Shattered Heart Review

Shattered Heart (Life's Second Chances Book 1)

By Carol May

Forget being tied up. Loose the bad boy fantasy. Remember, real men know how to treat their women.

Houston Donovan is definitely a real man. His professional success in the boardroom is only overshadowed by his private success in the bedroom.

Raven haired, Charli Jensen knows pain and sorrow. After relocating to Miami, she has become a woman on a mission. That mission is to be successful in business. No way is there room for a man in her life especially one with warm chocolate eyes and wavy hair.

Accepting his persistency, Charli agrees to at least have a drink with Houston. Houston stepped toward me. “Charli, I have many talents.”

I begin stepping backward. Interrupting him, smiling provocatively, “Of that I have no doubt.” I continued moving backward attempting to put enough space between us to allow me to think.
“One of my talents is reading people and anticipating their needs.”

Stepping slowing, all I can manage to mutter is, “Oh.” I reach my limit, literally. I was backed up against a stone wall.

Continuing forward until there was maybe a couple of inches between us, he places his palms on each side of my head against the wall. Leaning into me, I feel his hot breath as he whispered in my ear, “For example, at this moment, I know you want me as much as I want you.”

***MY HONEST REVIEW OF Shattered Heart***

Charli has put her dark past behind her. Now, she and her best friend Lana are on the verge of their travel business becoming very successful. That is when she crosses paths with billionaire Houston Donovan. Even though she thinks he is highly arrogant and self-centered, she eventually lets him past her defenses to find mutual attraction. But will she be able to share the haunting, dark secret of her past with him?

I liked the story and characters a lot, but there were so many unanswered questions. At the beginning, it was confusing the way it went back and forth, leaving me unsure of who was speaking. After learning the characters though, the transition became clearer. I like that the relationship was shown as romantic and clean. That is so much more satisfying to me than having to read everything that happens in the bedroom. Kudos to the author for that.
