Everyone in Arnn - a small farming town with more legends than residents - knows the story of Witchwood Hollow: if you venture into the whispering forest, the witch will trap your soul among the shadowed trees.
After losing her parents in a horrific terrorist attack on the Twin Towers, fifteen-year-old Honoria and her older brother escape New York City to Arnn. In the lure of that perpetual darkness, Honoria finds hope, when she should be afraid.
Perhaps the witch can reunite her with her lost parents. Awakening the witch, however, brings more than salvation from mourning, for Honoria discovers a past of missing children and broken promises.
To save the citizens of Arnn from becoming the witch’s next victims, she must find the truth behind the woman’s madness.
How deep into Witchwood Hollow does Honoria dare venture?
When Honoria
and her family moved to Arnn, they were unaware of the local folklore of
Witchwood Hollow. Despite the danger, Honoria finds contentment in the
enchanted forest. But her connection to it runs deeper than she can ever
imagine. There are many secrets just waiting to surface.
This read takes
place in three different time periods. It leads you back and forth, feeding you
needed information, to understand the story. I liked all the characters
involved. It was fun shifting through each time period and experiencing the
different cultures. The ending was not expected, but it was satisfying. This is
a read you won’t be able to put down until you finish it.

Paisley Ray books are not your typical fiction. A young woman's plan for an art history degree turns into an outrageous series of misadventures in this laugh-out-loud romp about a girl who enrolls in a southern college during the height of the crazy era that was the 1980’s. This collection crosses genres of chick lit, mystery, romance, humor, and action with the possibility of a corpse or two. To date there are 8 novels in this humorous romantic misadventure mystery series with book #9 due to release spring of 2016.
It’s ’86, the era of Pop Rocks, Jelly shoes, and big hair rock bands. Rachael O'Brien's freshman plan seems simple: Attend a southern college, earn a degree, party, and meet cute guys—hopefully acing the latter two.
But being threatened by a jealous She-Devil, avoiding the advances of a thirty-something redneck, and discovering an art fraud scheme thwart her “to do” list. On top of her troubles at school, Rachael finds herself forging a new relationship with her emotionally shaken father after Mom abandons the family to pursue a psychic calling.
Bad decision-making, law-bending behavior, and surprise romances make freshman year memorable in Paisley Ray’s DEEP FRIED AND PICKLED.
"I often get asked by readers what order THE RACHAEL O'BRIEN CHRONICLES books should be read in. Each book can be read without any prior knowledge of any of the others. That said, some readers do want to follow a chronological list of events in Rachael's southern fried, 80's college life antics so here it is".....
"Being a Southern girl and child of the 80s myself, I enjoyed the characters, the setting and the period references. Good plot without being too serious or watered down." "This fun and quirky mystery was very nostalgic for me as I got to relive the eighties through Rachael." "An entertaining read. Fresh new characters and some zany plot twists kept me reading late into the night." Above reviews from Amazon Also available in the series
When Rachael
arrived at North Carolina College, she had no idea that it would be the last
time she would see her parents together. Soon after, her mother left to find
herself, and her father quickly becomes attached to a younger girlfriend. This
makes Rachael spend more time with her new dorm sisters, who help her
experience all the freedom and trouble she can handle, and then some.
This was a fun
mystery with a cast of characters that leave you wondering what they’ll do
next. Rachael and her wacky friends found trouble without even trying. There
were some laugh-out-loud moments, and the chapter titles were as funny as the
southern slang. Hailing from the south myself, I can relate.
Born and raised in rural Pennsylvania, Paisley Ray, a steelworker's daughter spent summer breaks with relatives on the Carolina shores. It didn't take long for a love of southern to become rooted in her veins, and years later, yield the setting for her novels. Most days, Paisley can be found crafting the antics for the newest book in THE RACHAEL O'BRIEN CHRONICLES.
Frannie Brisbane knew it was an impossible scheme, but unless she went through with it, the daughter she had given up thirteen years ago and who now wanted to visit, would discover that Frannie had painted a very different picture of her life in the letters they’d exchanged. Frannie’s close friends rally around her, and next thing she knows, she is living in a mansion and wearing designer clothes.
The only thing missing is a husband.
Confirmed bachelor, Clay Coleman, has ulterior motives when he agrees to play the role of loving husband, but Frannie, who nursed a crush on him for years, fears she is flirting with danger in their role of let’s pretend. But Frannie and Clay aren’t the only ones keeping secrets. Sooner or later, the truth comes out, exposing everyone involved. Can Frannie ever get past her hurt when she discovers the truth about Clay?
Thirteen years
ago Frannie gave her newborn up for adoption. Now her daughter Mandie has found
her and wants to come visit. Since Frannie had lied in her letters to Mandie,
she must now look like she has a successful life with a husband. That’s when
Walter Coleman, a steady customer from her waitressing job, steps in. Not only
does he offer his mansion for the ruse, but he also talks his son Clay into
pretending to be Frannie’s husband. But once the farce begins, so does the heat
between Frannie and Clay.
Although the
plot is predictable, it doesn’t take anything away from the story. It was a
fun, lighthearted read. I loved all the quirky axioms that Frannie was always
saying. They were totally representative of her character. The chemistry
between Frannie and Clay had me turning the pages as fast as I could. I like
the writing style of this author, and will definitely read more of her books.
On the field and off the field, bartender Jeanine Jewell plays, collecting one-night stands like baseball cards. She doesn’t need a man, except to curl her toes and make her scream. She’s learned the hard way that the one who cares more is the one who gets hurt—and the last thing she can handle is getting hurt, or having anyone discover her shameful secret.
Scoring women is easy for catcher Kirk Kennedy—they don’t call him “Catch and Release” for nothing. He never goes back for a repeat performance. Being traded to a new city is an opportunity for new adventures—until he runs into Jeanine and she refuses to go home with him.
Intrigued, Kirk is determined to catch the elusive blonde and keep her to himself. When he proposes a wingman to wingwoman friends without benefits relationship, he’s surprised she accepts.
The no benefits clause soon falls by the wayside when neither Jeanine or Kirk can resist their explosive chemistry together. But despite the sparks between the sheets, they both refuse to acknowledge they’re anything more than friends.
Everything changes when Kirk discovers his past is the one Jeanine is hiding from.
Trigger Warning: The heroine was sexually abused by her foster father and has flashbacks.
"A truly extraordinary story that fearlessly demonstrates the transforming power and the breathless wonder that love can bring to a life in need.” - Amber on Goodreads
"I couldn't put down this serious story about love overcoming all." - Chantel on Goodreads
Jeanine shunned
relationships and only had one-night-stands. Kirk was the same. With each of
them being successful in their careers, they didn’t need anyone to complicate
their lives. Even though they didn’t know each other, it was bound to happen.
They accidentally meet in a hotel hallway, while each were sneaking away from
their hookup of the night. The chemistry was instant. But was it strong enough
to veer them off their chosen paths?
This is the
third book I have read from this author, and it’s the best one yet. I love her
style of writing. You easily get invested in the characters, and want to help
them to get their problems out of the way in order to get on with their
relationships. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down until I finished
it.
