You might be wondering what diamond painting even is? (Spoiler alert: It’s not painting diamonds on a paper and it definitely does not include actual diamonds!) Think cross-stitch-meets-paint-by-numbers-meets-mosaic-art. That’s a mouthful.
In simpler terms, diamond painting is a form of mosaic art in which the painter sticks tiny ‘diamonds’ made of resin on a printed, pre-glued canvas. The canvas is printed with symbols and numbers which represent each of the colors of diamonds to be stuck in their place.
Diamond paintings are available in the forms of kits that include all the necessary products and tools that you will need to create your own diamond paintings.
Diamond painting kits vary from seller to seller, but here’s the gist of what they usually include:
A printed canvas, diamond drills in all required colors (some companies provide extra diamonds for those of us who are always losing things), a sticking pen tool, glue for the pen, and a tray to keep your drills in while working.
Diamond paintings are easy enough to be made by anyone. In fact, if you have some free time to kill, a diamond painting is a great way to do so.
The actual painting process involves a few easy steps. First, you peel off the covering of the canvas and choose which color to begin with. Then you fill up your pen with glue and start sticking the diamonds in their corresponding squares. Rinse and repeat. Voila! You have yourself your very own diamond painting.
