Hello Friends. So glad you stopped by. Can you believe the way the gas prices are going up? They're reporting that parts of Florida are paying $6.00 a gallon. Outrageous! I know I'm not paying as much as some folks are, but that doesn't mean it isn't hurting me just as much. It's ridiculous. And as bad as I feel I am economically, I know there are plenty of others in worse shape than me. Those are the ones I feel for because I know they're really hurting. Hopefully this won't last too long and we'll be back down to a reasonable price soon. There's always hope. Right?
Well, now that I've vented, here's this week's creation.
Ain't it purty (hence the blog title)! I thought it turned out so good that I tried it in another color.
I think I like this one better. What about you? Which one do you prefer, pink or yellow?
I plan on making some tutorals sometime in the near future, but right now I'm concentrating on getting a variety of products made to sell on Etsy. Do you think my painting is of selling quality? Please let me know what you think. Also I would love for you to follow my blog. And if you have a blog, let me know so I can return the favor.
I also want to send a thank you to Tanya at Blogelina for all her help. She has so many resources for us newbie bloggers with tips, articles, classes, you name it. If you're considering your own blog, take my advice and visit her at http://blogelina.com/ .
Til next time, have fun!
I love the pink one! My art talent consists of stick figures!!
ReplyDeleteExcept for doing this, mine is too.
DeleteHi Julie, you might want to check in with Blogelina and let her know your blog URL is broken and needs to be updated. Anyway, I got her by pasting in your URL and looking at your posts. I saw this one mentioning Blogelina and realized it was the one you meant to post. Thank goodness gasoline prices are not yet $6 here. We paid $3.63 at Costco last night and my husband filled two five gallon cans to store. Your lotus flowers are very pretty. Your items look like they could be sold, but you know you can really only find that out if you put them somewhere that people can see them, like Etsy. I'm not sure how Etsy works but it would be the place to start. Best of luck to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Starlene. I just posted the right url. I gonna start with Etsy. Thanks for the advice.
DeleteThey're both beautiful, but I like the yellow better. It's just so sunny and cheerful.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly! Thanks Erin.
DeleteBoth are very pretty but I like the pink one a bit more. I can not even draw a good stick figure for real. Easy2Save
ReplyDeleteThank you Victoria but I bet you could do better than you think. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteYou're really talented. I am all thumbs!
ReplyDeleteThank you Corinne. They're not perfect, but I'm getting better with each one.
DeleteHi there! Good luck with your art. I'm curious how big those pictures are? My blogging buddy Lynden is also embarking on a new crafty blog. You might really like it (I'm daft at craft!). She blogs at http://aneleganttouch-lynden.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteHi Katy. Thanks so much. These pics were shot with a regular camera and uploaded to my Kodak file. When I attached them here, I chose the option for small because the medium looked too large for me. I will check out Lynden's blog as soon as I finish my 100 comments.
DeleteI love the yellow - I'd want it on a white or pale pink background I think.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anjanette. BTW cool name. I started out putting it on a white background but couldn't get enough contrast for it to show up good. Maybe with enough experience I'll be able to accomplish that.
DeleteI love the pink one most. Looks like you're just starting off with your blog, so good luck! I wish I was arty like you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Judith. I am just starting and I've got a lot to learn.
DeleteI like the yellow one best I think, although they're both really cute! I'm not crafty myself, but I love reading craft blogs and thinking "maybe someday..."
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I subscribe to too many already.
DeleteI like the pink one best. You have a talent here, for sure! Good luck selling them on Etsy.
ReplyDeleteWell thank you Kecia. That gives me confidence.
DeleteI like the pink one, but mostly because it looks purple in the picture and purple is my favorite color. ;-) Both are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you a little secret. It is purple, and the other one is Orange. They just look pink and yellow so that's what I called them. BTW purple is my daughter's fav color too.
DeleteHmmm... I think I prefer the pink lotus -- but they're both very decorative.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun, learning and practicing new things and hobbies? Cultivate your talent, Julie, it's a gift.
Thanks Eleni. It is fun.
DeleteThey are both very pretty, but I like the pink one best. And the price of gas is out of controll...
ReplyDeleteThese are very pretty. What are the measurements? They look like stepping stones and maybe 12 inches by 12 inches, but then again they could be much smaller. You'll have to let us know if you get hooked up with Etsy.
ReplyDeleteYou're right they are 12x12 stepping stones. I can't believe I left that out! Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
DeleteI really like the pink one. Although they are both very nice. Great job. Our gas prices are not as high here yet thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteThanks Shelly.
DeleteI like the pink one better. Great job painting! Whenever I paint something it looks like a little kid did it!! :)
ReplyDeleteSome of mine did too. I had to repaint a few times.
DeleteI'm a fan if the yellow :)
ReplyDeleteThere u go!
DeleteThey are both very pretty. I am partial to the pink one. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Britni. Looks like the pink one is the most popular so far.
DeleteThey are beautiful! I definitely think you would be able to sell those on Etsy :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the confidence Erin.
DeleteThey are both so pretty! I like the pink best though!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jaime. By the way, I enjoyed visiting your site after reading your post.
DeleteI like the pink flower. Very cute and creative!
ReplyDeleteThank you Becca.
Deletethey are both gorgeous in their own right but i'm partial to pink, so i like pink better :o)
ReplyDeleteSeems you're with the majority.
DeleteI like the yellow one, but that is just me. LOL I thought it was on a hoofprint at first.
ReplyDeleteYou are very talented and if I didn't have my head in a cloud I wouldn't have thought that it was a hoofprint and known it was a lily pad. LOL
www.foraging4aliving.com
Thats ok. It can be a hoofprint if you want. LOL Thanks for the compliment.
DeleteCool look for stepping stones! You did a great job! Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeletesuzy
Well thank you Suzy. I'm having so much fun with this.
DeleteI too like the first flower better, or rather the coloring. Though sometimes you never know till you try. I also prefer the green background. Have you thought about adding some veins or other details to the lily pad?
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought of the veins but now that you mention it, they would be cool.
DeleteI love the pink one, it pops more against the blue background (which is strange since yellow and blue are complementary colors). I do think your painting is good enough to sell.
ReplyDeleteConfidence building more! Thanks.
DeleteThose are both gorgeous! I don't think I could pick a favorite! I do love how the yellow "pops", but the pink seems more natural.
ReplyDeleteThank you Adelina.
DeleteCan I ask what they are?? It looks like a box maybe? Just curious :-D
ReplyDeleteThese are the 12 x 12 stepping (paving) stones. Sorry, I had mentioned that in an earlier post. I didn"t realize I omitted it til too late.
DeleteI think I like the pink one best. Very lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I like your blog name.
DeleteOh Gas...It's pretty much at $5/gallon around me and we have to drive everywhere so it sucks!
ReplyDeleteThose lotus flowers are so pretty! The pink is more traditional and natural but I think I like the yellow, very nice color combo! I think they would be nice sold as a set! A tutorial is nice but for someone like me who has no drawing/painting/art skills, we have to rely on purchasing our art! Although I still love looking at tutorials and sometimes trying them out even if they fail miserably! =P thanks for sharing your purty little thangs! Hope you'll visit my blog when you get a chance: www.mommykangaroo.blogspot.com
Good luck with starting your own etsy store!
I hadn't thought of selling as a set. Something to think about. I think I left a comment on your post but I will go back and check again.
DeleteThose are gorgeous. And not I don't believe people are paying $6 per gallon. Poor Florida folks! I was feeling sorry for us hitting $4/gallon.
ReplyDeleteI know right? Thanks for the compliment.
DeleteThere both Pretty and I like the green one best.
ReplyDeleteUh, I assume you mean the lime green lily pad? Either way, thanks.
DeleteI love pink! I cannot believe gas is $6!!!
ReplyDelete:)
lisa
I'll say it again, outrageous!
DeleteI love pink alot! But I really like the yellow one.
ReplyDeleteYes!! Another one!
DeletePretty - I love the pink one!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dawn.
DeleteI prefer the pink one, but both are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tracy.
DeleteYes, gas is getting crazy! The summer is going to be awful! You do create purty things!!
ReplyDeleteThat's purty THANGS!:D Thanks.
DeleteBeautiful flowers!!
ReplyDeleteOh, very pretty! I know a lot of folks who have had great success with Etsy, so keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on it. Thanks.
DeleteYou do indeed create purty things! I love both of the flowers you painted, but I think I like the yellow one just a smidge more than the pink one. Good luck with Etsy! I am just now getting started with a sewing business there.
ReplyDeleteThank you Elaine. Now I'll mosey on over and check out your shop.
DeleteNicely done!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteWendy
Around My Family Table
Thank you Wendy.
DeleteI love both of them!! but the pink one the most!!! The yellow is really cute those and I am not usually a yellow kinda girl!
ReplyDeletegas prices are INSANE makes me happy that I don't have a car at all, up here in Vancouver B.C. it is about 1.38 - 1.40 a liter! NUTS!
Oh, I only wish I didn't have a car, but around here it's a must. I'm a country girl. Thanks Eschelle.
