Mirror Mirror on her Wall Review

Mirror, Mirror on Her Wall (Mirrors Don't Lie Book 2)

By Becki Willis

… The forgotten envelope was like the proverbial can of worms… now that she had opened it, she knew the past would come crawling out, one slimy piece at a time….

Photojournalist Kenzie Reese has spent the past eight years trying to forget her past. Now the Mafia is looking for her father, and thinks kidnapping Kenzie will bring him out of hiding. Little do they know what a dysfunctional family she comes from! After a miserable and lonely childhood - lived on the run in a dozen towns across the country, using a dozen different names – Kenzie has made a new life for herself that does not include her parents.

The forgotten envelope plunges Kenzie into the middle of a political and financial conspiracy. Coded clues and a mysterious key force her to recall the painful puzzle of her past. Each discovery leads to more questions and more changes… and Kenzie hates changes!

Now is definitely not the time to be falling in love, especially with straight-laced Travis Merka. She and the Texas Ranger have nothing in common. She's a free spirit, he's all about rules.

But there are no rules as they follow the twisted trail of secrets that leads them from Colorado and Wyoming, into the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Full of surprises and vivid scenery, Kenzie's story is a great stand-alone or the perfect extension of The Girl from Her Mirror. This Book 2 of the Mirrors Don't Lie Mystery Series will make you laugh, cry, and beg for more! Readers say it is a 'must-read' and 'hard to put down'!

***MY HONEST REVIEW OF Mirror Mirror***

When Kenzie and Makenna find a hidden key with ties to their past, they know that they must keep it secret, while they try to find out what it belongs to. When Kenzie has to go to Colorado on a work assignment, she accidentally uncovers more clues to her past. As she becomes aware that she is being followed, her favorite Texas Ranger, Travis Merka, rescues her. Even though they are attracted to each other, they argue incessantly. As they unravel more clues, they soon find themselves running for their lives, while trying to find out who is after them, the mafia or someone else in power.

This is the second book of this series. Having read the first one that was mostly about Makenna, it was nice getting to know Kenzie this time around. I liked that a lot more was learned from their past. But more than that, I loved Kenzie and Travis’ prickling relationship. Of course add to that, suspenseful danger, and you’ve got a winner in my book. This story has a great plot, with characters that have intriguing relationships. I hope that the girls have a chance to meet their estranged father in the next chapter of their story.

The Girl From Her Mirror Book Review

The Girl from Her Mirror (Mirrors Don't Lie Book 1)

by Becki Willis

Helping a friend has never been so dangerous…

When Makenna Reagan agrees to pose as her best friend for the week, she never dreams she could be putting her own life at stake. Injured in a car wreck, photojournalist Kenzie Reese can’t complete her assignment for Now Magazine and begs Makenna to take her place. After all, the women look so much alike people are always mistaking them for sisters. Aside from using a false identity to board the plane, the switch seems harmless enough, and Makenna reluctantly agrees to the scheme.

At first, things seem to be going well; no one suspects she’s not who she claims to be, the New Hampshire White Mountains are enchanting, and she even meets a handsome man on the plane who just happens to be staying at her hotel.

The first time a car runs her off the road, Makenna shrugs it off as a misguided case of road rage. The second time, she knows she has a problem. And the troubles keep coming; a man with a gun is following her, strangers are delivering cryptic messages, and she is almost kidnapped. Makenna suddenly finds herself in the middle of a mysterious past … and it’s not even hers.

Out of her element and far from home, Makenna doesn't know who to trust - the handsome and charming Hardin Kaczmarek, or the odd couple from Texas who has befriended her? Trapped in her own web of deceit, Makenna knows trusting the wrong person could prove fatal.

***MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE GIRL FROM HER MIRROR***

Makenna Reagan and Kenzie Reese have been best friends since college. They look and act so much alike that everyone thinks they are sisters. When Kenzie has a car wreck and needs surgery, she talks Makenna into taking her place on a job assignment in New Hampshire.

Makenna meets Hardin on the plane and feels a mutual attraction. Once there, they make friends with Bob and Lesa Lewis who were also on the plane. By now, things have been getting strange around Makenna. It starts with her being chased and almost run off the road. She gets strange messages about her estranged father, and more. All this happens with everyone thinking she is Kenzie Reese.

Can she believe that Hardin is being truthful with her, and can she trust Bob and Lesa? More importantly, will she make it back home alive?

This story had many twists and turns, but was easy to keep up with. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Makenna. I don’t believe I could have taken someone else’s place without giving myself away. Especially with romance involved. I liked that Makenna and Hardin’s relationship was drawn out so long, and not just steamy sex scenes. I’m glad it ended the way I was hoping. I look forward to the next book in the series.
