Mirror Mirror on her Wall Review

Mirror, Mirror on Her Wall (Mirrors Don't Lie Book 2)

By Becki Willis

… The forgotten envelope was like the proverbial can of worms… now that she had opened it, she knew the past would come crawling out, one slimy piece at a time….

Photojournalist Kenzie Reese has spent the past eight years trying to forget her past. Now the Mafia is looking for her father, and thinks kidnapping Kenzie will bring him out of hiding. Little do they know what a dysfunctional family she comes from! After a miserable and lonely childhood - lived on the run in a dozen towns across the country, using a dozen different names – Kenzie has made a new life for herself that does not include her parents.

The forgotten envelope plunges Kenzie into the middle of a political and financial conspiracy. Coded clues and a mysterious key force her to recall the painful puzzle of her past. Each discovery leads to more questions and more changes… and Kenzie hates changes!

Now is definitely not the time to be falling in love, especially with straight-laced Travis Merka. She and the Texas Ranger have nothing in common. She's a free spirit, he's all about rules.

But there are no rules as they follow the twisted trail of secrets that leads them from Colorado and Wyoming, into the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Full of surprises and vivid scenery, Kenzie's story is a great stand-alone or the perfect extension of The Girl from Her Mirror. This Book 2 of the Mirrors Don't Lie Mystery Series will make you laugh, cry, and beg for more! Readers say it is a 'must-read' and 'hard to put down'!

***MY HONEST REVIEW OF Mirror Mirror***

When Kenzie and Makenna find a hidden key with ties to their past, they know that they must keep it secret, while they try to find out what it belongs to. When Kenzie has to go to Colorado on a work assignment, she accidentally uncovers more clues to her past. As she becomes aware that she is being followed, her favorite Texas Ranger, Travis Merka, rescues her. Even though they are attracted to each other, they argue incessantly. As they unravel more clues, they soon find themselves running for their lives, while trying to find out who is after them, the mafia or someone else in power.

This is the second book of this series. Having read the first one that was mostly about Makenna, it was nice getting to know Kenzie this time around. I liked that a lot more was learned from their past. But more than that, I loved Kenzie and Travis’ prickling relationship. Of course add to that, suspenseful danger, and you’ve got a winner in my book. This story has a great plot, with characters that have intriguing relationships. I hope that the girls have a chance to meet their estranged father in the next chapter of their story.

About the Author

Becki Willis has been writing since grade school, though her earliest works are best left unpublished. Her life-long goal has always been to write, but somehow she got sidetracked with life... marriage to her high school sweetheart... raising their two children... careers she loved but that had little to do with writing... In 2013, Becki brushed off her old dreams and resolved to become an author. She published her first book in November, sold her gift shop/ restaurant in December, and dedicated herself to writing full-time.

An avid history buff, Becki likes to poke around in old places and learn about the past. Other addictions include reading, writing, unraveling a good mystery, and coffee. She loves to travel, but believes returning to her home in rural Texas is the best part of any trip.
