Suicide is for Mortals Giveaway

Header

frontcover_amiers_suicidemortals

“A vampire, a fairy and a ghost all climb into an ambulance…”

If life is a funny thing, death has a wicked sense of humor.

President Miranda Hutchinson orchestrated the dissolution of the magical colony of Rezarta following its attempted secession, and three years after her death, no one has any idea that a ghost remains.

Journalist Scanlon Ness exposed the relationship between vampires and organized crime, but he can’t protect himself from joining the ranks of the thirsty dead.

The most perceptive eyes and ears of her generation belong to artist Meliana Lucas, but it is to her surprise when she sees the spirit of a woman who died but did not depart.

Humanity’s answer to the incompletely dead has long been to shun vampires and ignore ghosts. Miranda needs to be heard, and Meliana won’t let the barrier between living and haunting stand in her way. There are some who don’t want Miranda to regain her voice, and for someone like Meliana, the friendship of a ghost is no protection. The paths of artist, ghost and newborn vampire will come crashing together, and they are not prepared for how the dust will clear.

...........................................................................
During her tenure as President of the United States, Miranda Hutchinson passed the Magical Resettlement Act, which scattered the Magic-Handlers to all parts of the country. This allowed the vampires free rein to do as they pleased. When Miranda comes back as a ghost, she is able to make contact with Miliana, who along with her partner Clarice, want to help Miranda to cross over. Unfortunately this friendship causes Miliana to be targeted for a brutal vampire attack, of which she may not survive.

The first quarter of the book was filled with so much backstory detail that it got a bit boring. Once the characters became intertwined though, I picked up the pace and became interested in the plot. I liked how the female characters were strong-willed and independent. I also liked how not all the vampires were malicious, but that some still had a human side to them. Fantasy lovers will really enjoy this one.

Wind Catcher Review

WC ReleaseThis fantasy adventure series is steeped in American Indian culture and so much more.

Winner: Mom's Choice Award -- Silver Metal
Winner: Awesome Indies -- Seal of Approval
Recipient: Readers' Favorite -- 5 Star Review

Juliet Wildfire Stone hears voices and sees visions, but she can't make out what they mean. Her eccentric grandfather tells her stories about the Great Wind Spirit and Coyote, but he might as well be speaking another language. None of it makes any sense.

When she stumbles upon a series of murders, she can't help but worry her grandfather might be involved. To discover the truth, Juliet must choose between her new life at an elite private school and her Native American heritage. Once she uncovers an ancient secret society formed over two hundred years ago to keep her safe, she starts to wonder whether there's some truth to those old stories her grandfather has been telling her.

All she wants is to be an average sixteen-year-old girl, but she has never been average-could never be average. Betrayed by those she loves, she must decide whether to run or risk everything by fulfilling her destiny as the Chosen.
"Wind Catcher is a suspenseful, wonderfully written story that will capture your attention and hold it prisoner. A book that you won't want to escape from. Brava!" - Stephen Fisher, Readers' Favorite Book Reviews

...........................................................................

Juliet’s grandfather Sicheii, being a medicine man, has always told her that she was special, she just didn’t believe it. Being as ordinary as could be, she saw nothing remarkable about herself. Once she turned 16, though, things changed. She started having weird, vivid dreams. The voices in her head became louder. Now, the people in Sicheii’s secret society are being murdered and he becomes a prime suspect. When Juliet and her friends begin to investigate, she uncovers shocking secrets that her entire family have kept from her. She finally comes to the realization that she must embrace this new special self if she wants to survive her future.

This story had me looking for conspiracy theories everywhere. I tried to outguess the secrets, but then a twist would come and rule out my conclusions. So I was guessing to the end. I liked the Native American aspect of this story. It had a good plot with well-rounded and likeable characters. And the last sentence will throw you for a loop.

About On A Night Like This, Book #1 of the Callaway Series

From #1 NY Times Bestselling Author, Barbara Freethy, comes a romantic new contemporary series about the Callaways, a big, blended Irish family born to serve and protect.
The second oldest of the Callaway clan, Aiden Callaway veered from the family tradition of urban firefighting and became a smokejumper, never questioning his choice until the job took the life of his friend, Kyle, and left Aiden with injuries and fractured memories. Everyone blames Aiden for what happened, but he doesn’t remember, nor is he sure he wants to remember. The truth may clear Aiden of blame but destroy Kyle’s reputation and hurt the people he left behind.
Aiden seeks help from an unlikely ally …
Sara had always been untouchable, sweet, innocent, his sister’s best friend, and the girl next door. But one reckless night in their youth took their relationship to a new level. Sara has never forgiven or forgotten the way Aiden brought it crashing down, but she’s no longer that girl with the crazy crush. She’s a woman in search of her own truth.
The sparks between Aiden and Sara have been smoldering for a very long time. Sara is afraid to take another chance on a man who broke her heart, and Aiden knows better than anyone how dangerous an intense fire can be.
As teenagers they weren’t ready for each other. Are they ready now?
ON A NIGHT LIKE THIS is the first book in an eight book connected contemporary romance series featuring the intriguing Callaway family. Love, mystery, adventure — the Callaways have it all!
