David Finkleman and Dangerous Magic: Young Adult Paranormal Series and Young Adult Fantasy Series (David Finkleman Paranormal Series Book 1)
By P.K. Burian & M.E. Drewry
Welcome to Olympia, home of magical secrets, dangerous monsters, mystical creatures, and the few people able to fight them!
David is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or at least that is what he feels like when the FBI recruits him to go undercover in his high school. Isn’t it bad enough that he is bullied by several football players and they are the very ones he has to investigate!? But now he has to find out if they are circulating a deadly drug with a huge side effect: it turns a kid into a hideous, blood-sucking chupacabra!
Sure, he has wizard powers, but he never really used them before. Plus, he can’t tell a single person about his undercover work, not even his best friend Sam. And his parents expected him to keep his schoolwork and grades up or he will get grounded.
David feels in over his head.
But as he delves deeper and deeper into the case, he realizes he must solve it quickly before a murder occurs, especially his own!

***MY HONEST REVIEW OF David Finkleman***
Everyone in
school thinks David is just an average kid. They don’t know that he is a
wizard, like his Grandpa. When David gets pulled into investigating a new drug that
turns kids into a Chupacabra, he becomes the target of a powerful wizard. This
makes it almost impossible to hide his magic secret, while battling the
supernatural.
This is a great
read for young adults. The characters are well rounded and likeable. I enjoyed
the plot of a young wizard maneuvering through high school while finding his future
calling. All the different creatures were entertaining, especially the hospital
fairies. I loved the comical scene with the snake. It had me laughing at the
visual of it. I hope David’s story continues, since it has set the stage for
further adventures. I would like to see him interact more with the fairyland
creatures. That would be highly interesting.
