The GreenSeed Conspiracy Book Review

The GreenSeed Conspiracy

By Philip Benz

The GreenSeed Conspiracy won Honorable Mention in the 2016 New York Book Festival.

GreenSeed shows what happens when DNA experiments meet political intrigue and spec ops. It also shows what happens when big government does what it usually does: whatever it wants.
The story resonates with readers because of the technology, the idiosyncrasies of this US presidential election year, and the main character, Duncan Stone. A special operator who excels at his craft, he wends his way through layers of deception only to find himself a target, the same as the criminals and terrorists he hunts.  Abruptly developing a distrust of his employer and the woman who's trying to help him, Stone has little time in which to discover who wants to kill him...and why.

MY REVIEW OF The GreenSeed Conspiracy

Duncan Stone was coerced into taking a mission for the RSA, a government agency tasked with solving problems of a sensitive nature. Although he didn’t trust his superiors, he knew it would get him back in good graces with the agency. When he discovers that his mission includes killing an innocent teen, it makes him think twice about the true nature of his mission.

This story had believable characters and a nicely written plot of espionage and conspiracy, that will make you think twice about trusting the government. The genome altering discussion was boring but I liked the main character. He had grit and a personality that drew you in. I would have liked a bit more of romance for his character, as I think that would have invested him in the mission more. It was intriguing to find the characters had a common thread, and were more alike than they knew.
