Tiny Tim and The Ghost of Ebenezer Scrooge Review

Tiny Tim and The Ghost of Ebenezer Scrooge: The sequel to A Christmas Carol

By Norman Whaler

Tiny Tim and The Ghost of Ebenezer Scrooge: The sequel to A Christmas Carol (Illustrated with music) by [Whaler, Norman]
In the sequel to Dickens' A Christmas Carol, Tiny Tim, now a grown well-to-do young man, builds to a crisis of faith after he loses his love and soul-mate years earlier. It all comes to a head when old Scrooge, his benefactor, friend, and second father suddenly dies just days before Christmas. Blaming God and rejecting Christmas, Tim slips more and more into an uncaring mood with only a tenuous need to live on. Scrooge's ghost now returns to show Tim what he does not understand about true faith when bad things happen to good people. Tim is shamed by an example of real faith and finally begins to understand what Christmas really means in Tiny Tim and The Ghost of Ebenezer Scrooge, The sequel to A Christmas Carol.

MY REVIEW OF Tiny Tim and The Ghost

After the visits from the three ghosts, Mr. Scrooge changed for the good. Because of this, Tiny Tim survived his ailment, and went on to have a wonderful, fulfilling life. At least, on the surface he did. But unknown to all around him, Tim hid his sorrow at losing Becky, his childhood sweetheart. When Mr. Scrooge dies, it hits Tim hard because he had been so close to him. As time passes, Tim gets further depressed, his sorrow at losing Becky mixing in with his recent loss causes Tim’s heart to harden against his fellow man. The only way to save him now, is a visit by the ghost of Scrooge, to show Tim how much he is needed.

Even though Charles Dickens didn’t write this story, it still captured the same essence as A Christmas Carol. It took me back to the first time I ever read the Dickens classic. This author continued the story superbly. It had the same depth and flow as the original, and had I not known, I would have thought it was written by the same author. I liked the Christian element of the story, and how it was expounded on. This was a feel-good story, and makes an excellent companion to the original.
