Large is the Smallest We’ve Got Review

Large is the Smallest We've Got: A Jigsaw Puzzle

By Jed Hamilton

An unlikely mix of characters is thrown together by the 1994 Los Angeles earthquake. They spend the next five years tearing themselves apart.
A biting satire set in a chaotic Hollywood. Quirky, funny, and dark.
The book has a bittersweet love-triangle at its core, and is ultimately moving while never losing touch with a wry sense of the absurd.

MY HONEST REVIEW OF Large is the Smallest We've Got

This is a story that introduces you to the lives of a group of friends, revealing how they met, and the events that defined their relationship. It is told by one of the group, and left to you to figure out which one it is. It is definitely a jigsaw puzzle to solve, and had me hooked from the start.

I love this type of back and forth storytelling. It helps to define the characters and really get an in-depth personality from them. The author has a knack for giving you an outline, and then filling in the blanks when needed. The humor dispersed throughout kept the story in balance. I also liked the way the author wove historical events into the story, giving an authentic feel for the era depicted.
