MY REVIEW
Alona
temporarily lived in an Israeli community in Trenton, New Jersey for her job.
Although William lived in St. Louis, Missouri, he frequently visited his mother
in Trenton. That’s where he met Alona. They had a brief tryst, but in the end,
Alona goes back to Israel, later marrying Yoav, resulting in them having one
daughter. It was a loveless marriage,
leaving Alona to divorce Yoav, and eventually agree to marry William. Friends
and former coworkers attend the wedding, including Yoav and Dan, Alona’s first
boyfriend. But immediately after the ceremony, William is poisoned, leaving a
house full of suspects, and everyone has a motive.
This was a classic whodunit. I tried my best to figure out who did it, but
just when I thought I knew, more information came to light, making it unclear
again. I couldn’t feel sorry for any of them, and I actually disliked most of
them. The plot was interesting but I couldn’t relate to the characters at all.
Every one of them was shallow, with sexual laisons taking a forefront to the
story. I think that was what turned me off. I feel the author should have
pushed the mystery part more than the exploits, since they were more
distracting than suspicious.
