Collection of short stories about Two Friendly Witches: Stories 1 to 10

The key objectives of grandpa’s stories are to promote positive personal qualities in children and to provide humour and a little suspense.

Grandpa believes that his stories are suitable to be read by children, and to children of all ages and enjoyed by readers as young as 99 years and beyond.

MY REVIEW

Two Friendly Witches is a compilation of ten stories as told by “Grandpa” to his grandchildren each time they asked for a story. The main characters are Alicia and Phoebe, who are the witches. Then there was also their three friends, Blake, Leyton and Constable Bob, as well as a few recurring characters. Each of the stories were used as a teaching curve with positive points like good manners, telling the truth, and actions having consequences. Also, it shows how a loyal friendship requires a lot of give and take from both parties.

This book reminded me of some of the stories that my own Grandfather would share. He too loved to tell his made up stories to us kids. I liked the way all ten stories were in order and continued on from the last one. Each of the characters were loveable, and I thought it was sweet the way Constable Bob had a soft heart and cried so easily. The two witches were like outcasts with their looks and habits, and all they wanted was to be liked and have friends. I’m glad that this was a major point of the book. That’s what made it special. The author has a knack for telling interesting stories.  I believe kids of all ages will like this book.
