Stories, Thoughts and Humor from the South Review

Stories, Thoughts and Humor from the South by [Johnson, Lewis]

Stories, Thoughts and Humor from the South

By Lewis Johnson

Our lives are fast paced and full of stress, including terrorists! So we need a few minutes to reflect on the lighter side of life. Southerners have always known and enjoyed telling "stories" about real life. Real life seems stranger than fiction at times. We want to focus on a look at everyday things from a humorous view. So take a few minutes and enjoy this opportunity to smile, laugh, think a bit, and enjoy.

MY REVIEW

This is a compilation of thoughts and memories of the author’s outlook on growing up Southern. He shares his experiences with a witty, very humorous point of view. I couldn’t help but resonate to most, if not all, of these activities. He states ‘snakes provide great stories’. This is so true. I have my own numerous tales on that subject. But I think the best quote from the book would have to be ‘A roll of toilet tissue on an office table makes a statement’. It would be hard to beat that one.

Mr. Johnson really brought home the differences in people from the North and South. Being from the South, I definitely could relate. He has a way with his patient explanations of anything and everything. As he ends the book, he reminds us that ‘Sometimes reality is the best laugh of all’. Enough said.
