MY REVIEW

Lolly, her twin brother Chip, and baby sister Biscuit wanted nothing to do with green, healthy foods. This caused their parents grief at every meal. Lolly only ate sweets, Chip liked only salty snacks, and Biscuit liked sweet cakes. There was no getting them to even try a green vegetable. It was time for extreme measures. While camping, their dad told them the story of Sweet Queen and Prince Marmalade who lived in the Sweet Kingdom. He warned the kids to stay away. But they did not believe the story. The next thing Lolly knew, she was actually there, becoming Princess Lolly and enjoying all the sugary sweets she could handle. She did not know how she got there, but Lolly was determined to enjoy her time there, and hopefully never leave.

I loved this “sweet” story. It was written in prose style, and I believe it would be interesting to any small child. I enjoyed reading this story myself, even though I am an adult. I liked that it carried a needed message with reasons why you should eat healthy and only have sweets in moderation. It didn’t just say don’t eat sweets and do eat veggies. It showed as well as told the reasons why. I think that is very important. Otherwise kids will just tune out the message and ignore it.
