Joe Luca seemingly had it all. The looks, the charm, the intelligence, the drive and a friends for life in David Stern—equal to the task of every man's goal of conquering the world. Dr. Luca, a successful plastic surgeon and Mr. Stern, a self-proclaimed omniscient entrepreneur, had partnered since childhood to live the American Dream, believing at their core that fortune and fame held the meaning of a happy life. When the master-plan is abruptly thrown askew by evemts that spiral like a vortex of doom that has the entrancing love of a beautiful woman at its center, the two men are forced to re-evaluate everything they hold sacred and the nature of their very existence.

...Our course was laid down and exact for each of these encounters. But, something went wrong in Paris, with the girl named Alexis, the one with the Fairy inked in color on the small of her back that stared at me and offered up temptation no man could resist...Her skin looked invitingly soft and I could see myself touching it, nesting in it and thanking the stars of the universe for her, like other men had preceded me surely had done.

Yes boys and girls. I was in trouble...

***MY HONEST REVIEW OF PALS***

Joe Luca and David Stern have been best friends since the sixth grade. During their college years they went their separate ways but stayed tight. They both had a common dream of owning a state-of-the-art, innovative, one-of-a-kind nightclub. David would draw in the investors. Joe would wine and dine the investors’ daughters in order to sway them to invest in the nightclub. He would then become too busy for a social life and all love interests would go the wayside. This went well until Joe meets his match in Alexis. Then to further complicate matters, Alexis is brutally murdered and Joe is the suspect.

I liked the writing style of this author. As the story unfolds, the back-story is told at precisely when it is needed. Even though Joe and David were playboys, they were very likeable. I was actually rooting for Joe and Alexis to be together, and felt and understood Joe’s anguish upon finding out she was dead. Once everything is said and done, I would really like to read further of Joe and David.
