End of the Last Great Kingdom (The Brimstone Chronicles Book 1) by [Rose, Victor]
The Brimstone Chronicles is a dark fantasy series following the life of the Mage Brimstone. The story is fast paced and filled with unique characters and captivating creatures. Be warned this series is not for the faint of heart. Death and suffering lie around every corner, and not even the innocent are safe.

Do you ever feel like the whole world is against you, but you can't figure out why? Brimstone has just that problem as he and his friends are thrown into the nasty world of war and politics, they must learn quickly and not be afraid to stand up against overwhelming opposition. If not they will be used and discarded.

The End of the Last Great Kingdom takes place at the beginning of Brimstone's torment and when his world is being racked with violence and politic change. It follows Brimstone and his friends through this period and begins to unlock the mysterious of the magical world of Sulphurium. Sulphurium is a vast land containing many different races. Some you are familiar with like humans and orcs, while others are unique to Sulphurium.

MY REVIEW

Leaf had been a ward of the school for eight years. He wasn’t sure of his age much less his real name. What he did know though, was that he was an enlighten and still didn’t have a power. It made him the laughingstock of the entire school. But after the mage challenge, Leaf would gain respect and forevermore be known as Brimstone. After months of brutal training, Brimstone became a great warrior. Just in the nick of time it seems, because war broke out, and the Mage School is in the center of it all. Brimstone is accused of an infraction and is arrested by the Order. Now, he has to find a way to escape before it’s too late.

This is an excellent young reader even though there’s plenty of violence and retribution. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters were of true fantasy persona. Although the plot was predictable, I didn’t want to stop reading until the end. I did lag a little at the demon part and didn’t understand it easily, but all in all rushed through the rest of it just to see how it would end. Imagine my disappointment to find the ending has a cliffhanger, whereas I wanted closure.
